If you go searching online for ways to speed up your computer you’ll immediately run into a variety of registry cleaning applications. Is registry cleaning effective? Weigh in with your experiences.

Registry cleaners are a class of applications designed to remove unwanted and orphaned entries from the Windows Registry. Proponents of registry cleaning claim that it makes their computers run faster and more efficiently, opponents of registry cleaning claim that at best you’re just tidying up a tiny part of a massive database and at worst you’re risking the potential deletion of a critical registry key.

What say you? Do you use registry cleaners? If so, which one and what was the outcome? If it solved any problems on your computer or increased performance we want to hear about those problems as well as how you were able to measure the performance increase.

Sound off in the comments with your positive or negative experiences; make sure to check back in Friday for the What Your Said roundup where we highlight your registry cleaning successes and follies.
