[Reviews] Things for Mac
Overview
Things for the Mac is a To-Do List application that stands out among the rest. It allows for simple organization and can allow for more flexibility and power with its integration with AppleScript. It has nice options with tags, as well as areas of focus ranging from what is due today, to what you should do next.
Things for the Mac is one of the more pricy to-do list apps out there at $49.99 (USD) , and the two iOS apps, which we will be looking at later, will cost you $9.99 (USD) for the iPhone/iPod Touch version and $19.99 (USD) for the iPad version.
Installation
The installation of Things is pretty straight forward. Once you have unpacked the zip file, you are left with the application. If you open the application and it is not in the Applications folder on your hard drive it will inform you and give you the option to have it moved to the Applications folder. Once in place it installs a few files quickly.

Features & Use
Things allows you to use a key command to bring up a new to-do item and if you don’t have a place for it, collects it into an inbox until you either complete it or move it to a focus, project or area that if needs to be in.

You can add notes to the items at any time, allowing for research of an item or even using a contact log with in the item itself.

The 5 areas of focus are a helpful way to organize you to-do allowing you to choose you what your priorities need to be at the time.

Performance
We tried Things on a Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz MacBook Pro with 4GB RAM, and it ran smoothly and was snappy to respond to any thing we threw at it.
Conclusion
Despite its price, Things for the Mac is a great tool to add to your organizational needs in OS X. After using it we’ve found that its exciting to get things done and add more things to the list just to be able to complete them as well.
The amount of ways you can look at your tasks will help prioritize when you are unsure of where to go next, which can add flexibility and finesse to how you get things done. With the use of the iPhone/iPod Touch and the iPad apps this will be a wonderful tool to add to any arsenal.
