I heard a while ago that you can actually link multiple linux based computers together to form one powerful one. Any ideas?

I work for a company that has done just this. more than 400 cheap linux computers linked together into one supercluster that is as powerful as our Cray Y-MP. It’s fairly easy to do. I forget the name of the software that allows this linkage to happen.

yes, theres are tre forms, clustering (by soft), clustering hardware distribuit, and the OS distribuit.
linux its a OS based on one like the OS distribuit, but not focused on it, then clustering its the best way for it, but if u wan a real distribued enviorement, OS and machines specialy for this are too expensive, its better clustering.
in debian or venenux are a lot of packages with info and programs for clustering in software, clustering on hardware are not use too much today cos its expensive.
